Learned the following things:
1. Henry Ford II was a giant dick.
2. Very few people appreciate engineering R&D.
3. No crowds were harmed in the making of this.
4. Did I mention Henry Ford II was a colossal douche canoe.
5. I have no aspirations to work for the automotive industry after seeing this.
6. Suppliers can make or break your product development.
7.0/10 Good documentary to watch while eating.

HF II was indeed a massive dick. By the late ‘70s, he had nearly run Ford into the ground. Just ask Lee Iaccoca.

Iaccoca wanted to use honda engines in small compact cars and ford 2 said something xenophobic. That fatass thought he was royalty.

Watching it now while I wait for my clothes to dry. Nice find.

Sounds like CEOs being douchebags was a fairly common thing for the big 3 during that era. Read the article on Pontiac and John Delorean over on AteUpWithMotor for the GM side of things!

1) I can practically guarantee you almost none of the “behind the scenes” stuff depicted during the 2015 Mustang development was filmed as it was actually happening, they’re all re-creations.
2) last minute issues are part and parcel of any launch, and they’re as much internal as they are supplier-caused.
3) if this is what puts you off of working in the industry, you’ve got to experience the joy of a stop-ship/stop build at an assembly plant.

Do yourself a favor and pick this up. I’m not a reader and I know it sounds cliche, but I couldn’t put this one down. And hell, sometimes I don’t even finish my Clifford TBRD books.

He also wanted to sell more Euro Fords in America.

I’ll buy this with All Corvettes Are Red. Still have to read catch 22 and I Am America and So Can You. I bought those recently.
